The call to place a wall
Within every one of us
Rehearsing the blues.
Stopping the ‘blast from the past’
Yet lowering the mast.
So we could no longer step over

Brother and sister aghast

Fear did not endear us –
One to the other
And it was the unjust cause
Of many wars.
Of attrition,
Of guns and fighting
No more delighting in our inner being
No more seeing
