Into the Woods is a collection of songs by Walter, who is my alter ego. I mean, he's a treasured part of myself from my previous lives as a minstrel and sound healing entertainer.
There's a celebration here with Oh Pious Lark! about the preparation for a wedding. Barley Wine is a a song about getting together and drinking barley wine and enjoying the moment, it's also good for New Year. My Winter's Song to you is atmospheric and melancholy, about a lover who is away. Cherry me, and Without Any Plans are celebrations of love, and When a Knight Won His Spurs it's my slight adaptation of a favorite hymn, which I've added a repeating chorus 'All for one...' to. It's a kind of prophecy of our future spiritual awakening. I wrote quite a lot of new verses for this too. it reminds me a bit of Stairway to Heaven which is also a kind of prophecy.
She Moved Through The Fair is a very well known Irish folk song which is also a kind of ghost story.
'into the Woods' is an invitation to follow me with my guitar into the light and shade of life... the different seasons of the year... and also the places that others fear to tread, to find the deeper gifts and the treasure that lie within the woods but also most deeply, lie hidden within ourselves.
